A few days before it begins, you can already feel the excitement rising. Pre-events pop up across the city, quietly ushering in Miami Art Week. Some love it, others dread it (navigating the city at this time is a sport in itself). It is at once inspiring and overwhelming, yet somehow we all keep coming back.
I, for one, would never miss the chance for art rapture. The thrill of encountering a work that mesmerizes or an artist who expands your way of seeing. There is so much to see and absorb, and I am neither an art critic nor a specialist, but here are a few of my personal highlights from this 2025 edition.
OBJECT

Each of the artifacts presented by Thomsen Gallery is a tour de force of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and quiet, timeless elegance. They are objects that transcend function to become presence, elevating simple everyday life into an intimate ceremony.
ARTIST

Stumbling upon an artwork that calls you — that draws you into the artist’s universe and inexplicably makes you want to linger — is the feeling I chase while wandering the fairs.
This year, it caught me at François Ghebaly’s booth, where the work of Ludovic Nkoth captivated me. Nkoth’s paintings hold a magnetic tension: at once tender and confrontational, they are anchored in identity, memory, and resilience. His figures seem both shielded and exposed, painted with a depth that invites you to look longer, past the surface. Deeply moving.
BOOTH

Fendi nails its booth design every year, and this one is no exception. Designed around a few key pieces, the minimalist and deeply cohesive pastel space creates a butter-like atmosphere that settles the mind and lets the objects shine quietly.
Casa Malaparte Furniture, presented by Malaparte and Gagosian, also achieved more with less — its almost monastic design echoing the spirit of writer and intellectual Curzio Malaparte and the mystery surrounding his iconic Mediterranean villa, immortalized by Jean Luc Godard in Le Mépris. A timeless gesture of restraint and allure.
IN THE END ...
As the haze of openings, booths, and images slowly dissipates, I feel grateful. To witness so much creativity in one breath is a privilege — one that asks for time to absorb, sift, and contemplate what lingers.
Miami Art Week is not only an immersion in art but in humanity: unexpected conversations, encounters that expand you, and the joy of recognizing a shared sensibility.
If you were here, I would love to hear your impressions. As for me, I am curious to see what resonance will surface in the months to come.
